The Triple Crown represents one of the most difficult achievements in baseball. To receive the award, a player needs to lead either the American League or the National League in terms of batting average, runs batted in (RBIs), and home runs. The feat was more commonly achieved in the first half of the 20th century, but in the past 50 years only one player has earned the Triple Crown.

Mickey Mantle won the Triple Crown in both leagues in 1956 with a batting average of 0.353 and 130 RBIs. While he won both of these measures by a small margin, he really excelled in terms of home runs. That year, he batted 52 home runs, which was nine more than National League runner-up Duke Snider.
